Guidelines to Watering Here are
some general rules on watering your lawn in North Texas. Water deeply, not
frequently. This will help encourage deep root penetration. Increment your
watering to allow proper drainage and less run off, especially on sloped and
low areas. Always adjust watering schedule when weather conditions are a
concern: wind, rain, freezes, etc. This will help conserve water Winter
Season (December, January, February) - Water 1 to 1.5 inches per section every
10 to 14 days apart. Do not water if freezing is expected. Spring Season
(March, April, May) - Water 1 to 1.5 inches per section every 5 to 7 days
apart. Water early morning between 3 am and 9 am. Summer Season (June, July,
August) - Water 1 to 1.5 inches per section every 3 to 5 days apart. Water
early morning between 2 am and 8 am. Fall Season (September, October,
November) - Water 1 to 1.5 inches per section every 5 to 7 days apart. Water
early morning between 4 am and 9 am.THE BENEFIT OF ORGANICS Organic
fertilization has two misconceptions: it is more expensive and it does not
work. Organic programs are very cost effective. You will decrease the number
of applications the longer you are organic. As the health of the soil
improves, the plant’s root system improves and fewer insect and disease
treatments are needed. Also, you will reduce the costs of plant replacement,
watering bills and overall maintenance . Chemical applications only focus on
the root system of the plant, therefore, you need to fertilize more often year
after year. Chemical fertilizers, with their high salt content, continue to
damage the soil, until eventually, there is no living matter for any plant to
thrive in. Conserve water and save money. When it comes to irrigation, there
are so many different reports that it is hard to know what to believe. With
organic fertilization, as the soil health improves, less watering is needed.
When you water deeply and infrequently you help create a deep root systems.
Watering is a waste of money and resources; a problem that can easily be
fixed. Rain harvesting is another way to be resourceful. It is much easier
than you would think to set up a system. Just visit your local nursery or
hardware store for a rain harvesting drum.Save time and money by mowing less
often. Organic programs encourage the lawn to be mowed higher than a chemical
program. The higher the lawn, the less opportunity weeds have to germinate.
This allows you to go a few extra days in between mowings, even during the
growing season. Extra time for you or less money paid to a maintenance
company. Organic practices provide more benefits not just for our soils but
for our kids, pets and surrounding environment. Our families do not have to be
exposed to toxic fumes. You do not have to keep the kids and pets off the lawn
for 24 hours after a treatment. You do not have to water excessively to wash
away the harmful residue of chemical fertilizers. Best of all, watch the
birds, fire flies, butterflies, earthworms, geckos and all other beneficial
insects return to your chemical free yard. Organic gardening is so important
to our environment. The majority of synthetic fertilizers contain herbicides,
too. Atrazine, Simazine and 2,4-D herbicides are usually added to the already
toxic fertilizers. These herbicides need to be used sparingly, not distributed
over the entire lawn. These herbicides and high salt fertilizers leach in to
our watering system. Conversely, when you fertilize organically, there is no
damage to the city water. We are stimulating beneficial microorganisms, which
in turn, actually help to detoxify the soil. Regular use of pest control
products only treat the symptoms and not the problem. Pests arrive when our
soil is in need of improvement. Adding organic matter, such as compost, rock
minerals and organic fertilizers, will help stimulate the biological life in
the soil. This will help the over all health of our lawn , landscape and
environment. The easiest thing about going green is letting us do the work for
you. Organic Systems will make the transition to organics smooth and simple.
We will educate you along the way, so that if a time comes when you want to do
it yourself, there will not be a problem you can't handle. Don't be the person
with the big chemical truck outside of your house. Show your neighbors you
care.
